That’s What She Said
If you ask pretty much anyone close to us about our wedding they will say, “It’s about time!”. If you ask us, we will say that “it’s about, time”.
What can we say? On our wedding day we will have been together almost 12 years. In those 12 years we have seen our share of turbulence but we’ve also seen how great our love is and how strong we are together.
So how did we meet? Well, the easy answer is at work (but when we met there was absolutely no romantic interest). Eric was the Chief Pilot at a smaller airline and I worked in Human Resources for their Head Office. He was part of a much larger group of people that I would go for the odd beer with on a Friday but that was that.
Fast forward a couple of years to when life got a little more complicated and I found myself single. I filled in that dating site profile, sipped some wine and entered the brave new world of online dating.
A month or so rolled by and I got that trusty Monday email with all of my potential matches and how they ranked. Well, the magical people at the dating site randomly ranked Eric (the guy in the office two doors down from mine) #2 out of 10,000+ potential matches in Calgary.
Many messages, turned into many dates. Many dates turned into love. Love turned into commitment and we merged our lives together.
The average wedding celebrates a couple’s beginning. Ours is a celebration of the love and life that we’ve built together.
We have been each other’s best friends through the wonderful moments and have been each other’s rock through the challenges.
We’ve seen each other through divorces, 4 kids, career changes, surgeries, deaths, illnesses and we’ve done so without skipping a single beat.
Over the years we’ve had so many wonderful adventures together all over the world. Whether we are hiking a mountain at home or holding hands 100 feet under the ocean while scuba diving, every adventure with each other is one with with each other’s best friend, lover, soul mate and partner in crime.
We are truly blessed to have found one another and can’t wait for you to join us as we celebrate the life we’ve built, and the love we’ve shared throughout all of these wonderful years together.
That’s What He Said
It was a cold damp morning back around the spring of 2011, when I strolled into the office of Regional 1 Airlines and met the lady who would become my future wife. We had emailed back and forth for a few months to discuss my payroll spreadsheet, they were always such a challenge. I changed positions and took an office job, where we worked together. Shortly there after, she moved to the HR department at Avmax, (oh the irony) where we continued the professional relationship. We would occasionally meet up for a work lunch or after work with our work friends to have a tasty beverage. After a couple of years, we both had finalized our divorce from our respective former spouses. We entered the exciting world of online dating. Surprise! That one fish in the great big dating sea was only a couple of office doors down the whole time! Our first date was in Dec 2012 where we met up for a beer and a movie and the rest as they say is history.
Over the last 12 years we have had many adventures, survived a pandemic and grown together through out the tough times and the good times. She has become my AA buddy. No, not that AA. She is my Adventure and Apocalypse buddy.
Thank you family and friends for coming to celebrate our love and marriage together!
In the words of a great man….Party ON!!!
